The Insatiable Hunger

So where did we leave our lovable characters. I believe the little girl was struggling underneath a huge pile of security blankets. The Cat was crying (but has since dried it's eyes and busy licking its wounds) The fish was still swimming around merrily in its bowl.

Reality stuck once again and the little girl realized that she had a huge pile of washing that she had neglected to do as she was preoccupied with her search for the security blanket. She piled it all into the fire-truck and raced over, with siren blaring to the laundromat. She left it in the care of her washer-woman, who bore an uncanny resemblance to another famous washing woman that a little girl named Lucy had grown up with.

All this rushing around had made the little girl, let's give her a name, how about Lucy? seeing as she already knew the washing lady...

All this rushing around had made Lucy hungry. And just like the very hungry caterpillar (oh no not another new character) she set off in search of food.

Lucy's mother had a very fine vegetable garden so the first stop Lucy tried was there. Her mother had a vegetable stall, one of those kinds you see along country roads with the produce for sale at the front gate and an honesty box to collect the money. When Lucy got to her mother's place the gate was locked. There were plenty of fresh vegetables for sale, her favorite corn and tomatoes, some lettuce and radish. But Lucy didn't have any money as she had given it to a starving girl begging on a street corner. Poor Lucy went away hungry as her mother never gave her food for free.

This is a picture of Lucy with her mother the witch. I am sure you will see the close resemblance of Lucy and a cat.Let it be said here that Lucy tried with all her heart to love her mother even though she made her pay for her food. And anyway her mother was a terrible cook. For Christmas Lucy had thoughtfully bought her a set of measuring spoons as she thought it might help her cooking skills and also gave her a plastic serrated knife so the edges of the lettuce wouldn't go brown in her salads.

Lucy had an idea, she would go to the bank and get some money out. Then she went to the bakers and bought an egg and bacon roll and sat in the park to eat it all by herself, no cat, no fish not even a caterpillar to keep her company, though she did get bitten on the toe by an ant. The movie she had been to see with the cat had explained that when you eat meat you are eating the fear the animal felt when it was killed. Lucy could taste the fear in that piece of bacon but she swallowed it and went to check on her fish.

There have been rumors of a love interest for David but as he is a fighting fish and attacks all his partners I think it is better he remains solitary. Also the Cat might get jealous and we all know what a jealous cat is like: hissing and spitting, sharp teeth and claws, fur flying everywhere...not a pretty sight. We certainly don't want to see our cat looking like that.

On arriving home, Lucy discovered that, like the caterpillar she was still hungry and in need of some more food.

Stay tuned for part III. where many exciting questions may be answered,
What will Lucy find to eat?
Will the Fish stay loyal to the Cat or will he go in search of love elsewhere?
And what has become of the security blanket?

Authors note:
I'll be back after this short break, I need to go and feed my fish
